Organic Uji Gyokuro "Gokou"

Description
A first harvest organic gyokuro tea (Jade Dew) from a small organic tea garden in Uji. It is made exclusively from the tea bush varietal known as Gokou. Carefully grown under diffused sunlight for an extended 30 days before harvest, as opposed to the shorter 20 days that is often suggested. It is minimally processed and sorted and is 100% Uji Gyokuro. This type of unique farmer's gyokuro has become more and more popular over recent years and is very much in demand due to its more natural flavor than blended and/or heavily processed gyokuro teas. It has a rich, sweet, dense, briny taste with a marine aroma, a deep green liquor color, and an almost buttery aftertaste!
Brewing Organic Gyokuro
Organic gyokuro is brewed differently than other organic Japanese green teas. Here at Yuuki-Cha we enjoy three different methods of brewing organic gyokuro. They are (as seen below in the brewing suggestions box):
Gyokuro 3 mins brewing: This brewing method will yield a full, intense, rich, sweet, umami flavored organic gyokuro.
Gyokuro 2 mins brewing: This brewing method will yield a full, intense, biting sweet flavored organic gyokuro.
Gyokuro beginners brewing: This brewing method is the best place for a beginner to start at, and is preferred by many. It will yield a less intense, mellow, sweet flavored organic gyokuro.

Brewing Suggestions Gyokuro 3 mins brewing (1 cup):
• Tea leaves: 6g
• Water temperature: 40°C/104°F
• Water Volume: 60ml/2oz
• Steeping time: 3 minutes.
• Add an extra 2-3g of leaves per cup.
• Each extra cup 60ml/2oz water volume.
OR
Gyokuro 2 mins brewing (1 cup):
• Tea leaves: 6g
• Water temperature: 50°C/122°F
• Water Volume: 60ml/2oz
• Steeping time: 2 minutes.
• Add an extra 2-3g of leaves per cup.
• Each extra cup 60ml/2oz water volume.
OR
Gyokuro beginners brewing (1 cup):
• Tea leaves: 6g
• Water temperature: 60°C/140°F
• Amount of water: 90ml/3oz
• Steeping time: 1 1/2 minutes.
• Add an extra 2-3g of leaves per cup.
• Each extra cup 90ml/3oz water volume.

Don't waste the tea leaves after brewing. Mixing it in some light soy sauce and it makes a delicious after tea snack.

I have tried all of the Yuuki Cha organic gyokuro, this one being the pick of the bunch in my opinion. Very balanced flavor, the first infusion is really deliciously soothing and sweet almost candy-like. Later infusions develop into grassy and earthy flavors. I found it best with a higher leaf to water ratio yet it brews well with any of the parameters suggested. Very beautiful green color and nicely complex flavors. I am happy to purchase this as my regular organic gyokuro and the price is just right. Wonderful!

Bold flavor, higher tannin, drier mouth feel. A rounded sweetness, but very bold in rich, earthy flavor. My favorite Gyokuro ever.

This is the greenest gyokuro I have ever had. It was delicius and I will buy more. The taste and the fragrance is a wonderful mix between seaweed, spinach and tomato taste.
