Best Green Tea Selection

WE SELECT ONLY THE VERY BEST GREEN TEA CONFORMING TO VERY HIGH STANDARDS!

We search out and collaborate with tea growers that cultivate Japanese teas organically and naturally because they conform to, and are fully compliant with, Japan Agricultural Standards (JAS) which is a fully recognized and trusted certifying organization in Japan that maintains very high standards.

Our growers have a deep understanding of cultivating Japanese tea naturally just like their forefathers did. They are among the few that actually pass the very high standards that are set out by JAS!

AS PART OF THE JAS PROGRAM OUR SELECTED TEAS ARE:

• Cultivated without the use of chemical synthetic fertilizers and agricultural chemicals.
• Grown under strictly regulated and monitored conditions.
• Fully documented on all accounts and traceable to origin.
• Annually on-site inspected.
• From growers that annually have their internal structure and managerial competence evaluated.
• Harvested by methods so as not to damage the surrounding ecosystem.
• Derived from original soils in order to sustain and enhance the natural recycling function of agriculture.

OUR TEAS ARE ALSO:

• Naturally and organically grown on smaller single estates by dedicated growers.
• Often cultivated at altitude in secluded mountainous areas.
• Grown in nurtured soils high in minerals and nutrients giving the tea a naturally sweet taste and lingering aftertaste.
• Cultivated in tea gardens that produce healthy and hardy tea bushes that are less susceptible to disease, pests and frost damage!

WE STRICTLY AVOID NON-ORGANICALLY GROWN JAPANESE GREEN TEAS BECAUSE THEY FALL WAY SHORT OF THE ABOVE STANDARDS AND ARE GENERALLY:

• Mass produced at lower altitude.
• Difficult to trace to origin.
• Cultivated with less required expertise.
• Produced under less than best guidelines & management practices.
• Blended between farms and regions by tea shops/merchants/manufacturers.
• Grown in lackluster soils depleted of nutrients.
• Fed with large amounts of nitrogen chemical fertilizers overemphasizing the taste known as umami in Japanese misleading consumers into a false sense of quality.
• Sprayed numerous times throughout the year with various poisonous pesticide concoctions.
• Void of any official inspection of the farm and product handling procedures.
