A first harvest organic gyokuro tea (Jade Dew) from a small organic tea garden in Uji. It is made exclusively from the cultivar known as Gokou and is
100% Uji Gyokuro Green Tea. Carefully grown under diffused sunlight for an extended 30 days before harvest, as opposed to the shorter 20 days that is often suggested. It is a minimally processed and mostly unsorted gyokuro which means it includes some smaller leaf particles and could be referred to as an aracha gyokuro.
This type of farmer's style gyokuro has become more and more popular over recent years and is very much in demand because rather than being chemically fertilized with big doses of nitrogen, heavily processed, blended, and sorted by teashops like most gyokuro teas are, this organic gyokuro takes a more natural approach and remains true to its origin. It has a rich, sweet, dense, briny taste with a marine aroma, a deep green liquor color, and an almost buttery aftertaste!
BREWING GYOKURO GREEN TEA.....
To get the best out of gyokuro it's preferable to use a high leaf-to-water ratio and a lower steeping temperature than normal. A good starting point for this gyokuro is as follows, you can adjust from here (for one cup):
NOTE: Please make sure to preheat your teacup and teapot. For gyokuro a houhin is the preferable brewing vessel.
Amount of leaf: 5 grams
Water Volume: 80/2.7oz-100ml/3.3oz
Water Temperature: 60°C/140°F-65°C/149°F
Infusion time: 60 seconds.
For the second and beyond steeps, please step up the temperature by a few degrees each steep to maintain the flavor and increase steep times from a flash second steep to longer subsequent steeps. This organic gyokuro will produce many infusions from the same leaf!

Buttery and complex, with each infusion possessing its own distinct character. This tea is subtle in its grassiness and sweetness, which seem to engulf your taste buds and mature if you take time to savor each sip. By the same token, it's not a challenging tea to the palette: If brewed properly at a low temperature, it has little to no astringency. Just got it last week and am already halfway through the container!

Don't waste the tea leaves after brewing. Mixing it in some light soy sauce and it makes a delicious after tea snack.

I have tried all of the Yuuki Cha organic gyokuro, this one being the pick of the bunch in my opinion. Very balanced flavor, the first infusion is really deliciously soothing and sweet almost candy-like. Later infusions develop into grassy and earthy flavors. I found it best with a higher leaf to water ratio yet it brews well with any of the parameters suggested. Very beautiful green color and nicely complex flavors. I am happy to purchase this as my regular organic gyokuro and the price is just right. Wonderful!

Bold flavor, higher tannin, drier mouth feel. A rounded sweetness, but very bold in rich, earthy flavor. My favorite Gyokuro ever.

This is the greenest gyokuro I have ever had. It was delicius and I will buy more. The taste and the fragrance is a wonderful mix between seaweed, spinach and tomato taste.
