Coming from Satsuma in Kagoshima is this Organic Kabusecha made from the Asanoka varietal.
Kabusecha is basically a sencha, but has elements of gyokuro because it is made from tea bushes that have been covered with black shade cloth. However, it is different than gyokuro because the shading is shorter, and the framework that holds the shade cloth is build much closer to the tea bushes.
This one is light steamed has a mellow and soft taste with a touch of gyokuro savoriness due to the shading which increases the amino acid content in the tea leaves.
