Organic Benifuuki Sencha from Kirishima in loose leaf green tea form.

Benifuuki was originally developed for black tea, and makes for a very nice black tea due to its high levels of catechin. In recent years it has also become quite popular as green tea due to the fact that when made as green tea it contains an abundance of Methylated catechin (disappears during the fermentation of black tea). Methylated catechins apparently has the effect of suppressing the release of histamine, which causes various symptoms caused by allergies.

A very nice clear tasting lighter steamed tea, but due to the high levels of catechins it has strong astringent finish.
