Coming from the famous tea growing area of Kirishima in Kagoshima is this Organic Kabusecha made from the impressive Okumidori varietal.
Kabusecha is basically a sencha, but has elements of gyokuro because it is made from tea bushes that have been covered with black shade cloth. However, it is different than gyokuro because the shading is shorter, and the framework that holds the shade cloth is build much closer to the tea bushes.
Very delightful aroma is the first thing we noticed about this tea and due to the shading which increases the amino acid content in the tea leaves we also found the taste to be rich and savory. A very delicious complex taste.
