This organic sencha comes directly to us from the Hiyashi family who we have been purchasing teas from for many years now. They run a very professional and immaculately kept organic tea plantation in Kirishima, Kagoshima, Japan, where they are producing some really excellent organic teas.
This particular organic sencha is made from their finest batch of first flush Yabukita leaves and is a light steamed asamushi sencha which we entitled 'Kirishima No Kaori' (Fragrance of Kirishima) because it has a beautiful fresh tea fragrance of the mountains. Its liquor is a clear bright yellow color which is indicative of a sencha that has been lighter steamed. It's soft tasting, yet also has wonderful rich complexities with a lively refreshing citrus-like aftertaste. Little astringency, perfectly smooth, it's an exceptionally fine example of high quality organically cultivated lighter steamed sencha from the mountains of Kirishima, Kagoshima, Japan.
Tea Garden Images...
The following is an image of the Hayashi families Yabukita tea garden where Kirishima No Kaori is cultivated. The tea garden is on a flat area of land in a elevated mountainous area of Kirishima which is often mist covered. The area is secluded and surrounded by very tall cedar trees making it the perfect environment to grow organic tea that is both safe and healthy along with being excellent in quality:
