Baisen is a complex-roast kamairi-style Japanese oolong tea grown organically in very limited amounts in Gokase Town, Miyazaki on Kyushu Island, one of the traditional pan-firing tea producing areas of Japan.
For this oolong, the grower uses a blend of Japanese tea cultivars that he is currently using for the production of his Japanese oolong tea. He then fires them to a few different roast levels to create an oolong tea with rather unique rich aromas, and a lovely sweet taste which you might find to be slightly fruity or floral with no astringency at all.
A really nice oolong tea that you can enjoy any time of day. In the morning it is an uplifting beverage, and after a meal it is also very enjoyable and refreshing.
Credits: The amazing artistry on the packet's label is done by a Japanese Etegami artist and good friend of Yuuki-Cha staff. On this particular packet the picture shows a dragon which is a reference to Chinese oolong tea which somewhat inspired this Japanese oolong tea!
